My Hometown
I'm from Arlington, Texas, which is located right in between Dallas and Fort Worth. It's a beautiful city that has the Dallas Cowbow's Stadium and the Texas Ranger's ballpark right across the street from each other. It is also known for having a Six Flags theme park and a water park called Hurricane Harbor. Beyond the attractions, it's a city full of parks, schools, restaurants, and a wonderful art district. Being so close to two major cities means there's always something going on. Concerts, festivals, A literal cattle drive every year, as well ass great job opportunities. It's where I grew up, and spending so much time there helped shape who I am today.
My Major and Career Plans
I'm studying Computer Science at University of the Cumberlands, and I plan to specialize in cybersecurity with a focus in digital forensics. I would hopefully get assigned to a law firm or municipality to investigate the digital aspect of evidence presented after a crime is committed. I have also taken a liking to cryptography, though much more education in the topic is needed.
My Relationship with the Internet
I mainly use the internet for research, learning, and completing assignments. I don't spend a lot of time on social media because I think it can be a distraction and it's easy to lose track of time. I try to focus more on using the internet as a tool instead of for entertainment, as it can be hard to tell what is misinformation or will drain my energy and time if I invest in a particular topic. That said, I do use social media to stay in touch with family members who live far away and to keep up with current events and important news. It helps me stay connected without having to be on it constantly. The internet is also essential for my studies and future career in cybersecurity and I rely on it every day. Coupled with how much the Internet of Things is growing, we really couldn't function in society today without it.
